Retired from his post as the senior vice president of Oklahoma City-based gas and oil exploration company Devon Energy, Duke Ligon was appointed chairman of the board of SemGroup Energy Partners in 2009. SemGroup Energy Partners is a publicly traded energy asset company based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. SemGroup Energy specializes in supplying and transporting crude oil and liquid asphalt. SemGroup holds energy assets in multiple countries, including the US, Mexico, Canada, and the UK. Many of the company’s crude oil refineries are concentrated on the US Gulf Coast. SemGroup employs more than 1,200 workers and operates a marine terminal on the port of Houston. The company contributes to the wider community through its philanthropic efforts. SemGroup’s charitable initiatives focus on education and community service projects that directly benefit Tulsa residents.
